We arrived in Ochlockonee River State Park to find a "controlled burn" which had gone out of control. It was a bit disconcerting to find fires still smouldering just 50 yards from our campsite. But the smoke helped keep the deerflies somewhat under control. Ah, the joys of camping...

  1. It's an unexact science as I'm sure you understand. Glad it kept the flies down though!
    I'm in southern Mississippi overseeing a firefighting helicopter through May 19th (about 25 miles from the coast). Doesn't look like you are going to stop until New Orleans but if you do let me know.
