A Toronto Neighborhood; Cell Phone Training; Canary Condos? A Four Door Porsche? Food for Patricians

While Suzanne was SOARing yesterday, I walked the St. Lawrence Neighborhood. It’s a very nice area, based around St. James Cathedral, St. Lawrence Hall, St. Lawrence market, and the nearby Distillery District.

I thought this scene was worth capturing. The scene is a “dogs off leash are okay” park. Both young women are on their cell phones, but their dogs are waiting patiently nearby. I’m not sure if this technique is an advanced canine training method or just an addiction to one’s cell phone over the family pet, but I found it amusing...

This sign took me aback; I wasn’t sure whether the condos were for canaries or people...

We never watch TV, so I was unaware that Porsche has come out with a new four door model; not a bad looking car, but I didn’t see any mounting points for kayak and bike racks. I didn’t go into the dealership because I knew that my Honda CR-V would be jealous if I were looking at a sports car...

Toronto is an old and also a modern city, with elements of both juxtaposed all across the city. These two buildings were only a block apart. The older building is the Alumnae Theatre.

Another example of old vs. new, St James Cathedral and a 21st century skyscraper.

“The Patrician Grill” advertises “good food”; the sign in their window asks for help in maintaining their motto. I wonder whether the owner’s brother may also be in the restaurant business; maybe he owns “The Plebian Pub; Mediocre Food and Swill”...

There were no customers in The Patrician Grill, yet just down the block is a beer and snack café that was doing land office business. I walked by this establishment three times over an hour’s time, and there was always a line outside. Maybe they stole the cook from The Patrician Grill? Naaaahhhhhh.....
