A Book Signing; A TV Interview; This is a Drill; The Scream

On Sunday, Suzanne had a BellaSpark-sponsored book signing at the Loveland Barnes and Noble bookstore, and BellaSpark President Donna Visocky and her friend Lisa are shown here at the start of the event.

Today, Monday, we got up at 4:30 AM (yes, you read that correctly) to drive in to Denver where Suzanne had a live interview on KUSA-TV Channel 9 News. We arrived early and got to look around the station a bit.

Suzanne was interviewed by TaRhonda Thomas. Looks like she chose the right color dress (experts said that was the perfect color); I think TaRhonda had the same advisor. Here they are just before going live.

The show went swimmingly!  Suzanne answered TaRhonda’s questions about Messages of Hope and her transition from Navy Commander to psychic medium. They showed many clips from the Messages of Hope documentary during the interview. The video is available at the KUSA web site, http://www.9news.com/rss/story.aspx?storyid=284091. Suzanne also met Jack Maher, KUSA Executive Producer, whose son is a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy.
Rudy and Gretchen enjoyed the trip to KUSA-TV Channel 9, since the station’s lawn is much nicer than the rocks and dirt at our Air Force Base campsite. Rudy was disappointed that he wasn’t interviewed as well, but he got over it after Suzanne gave him and Gretchen a doggie treat.
Back to our campground to get ready for Suzanne’s 11:00 reading. And “normal day-to-day life goes on... Monday is laundry day (remember that New Orleans tradition from a previous post? I don’t think we have red beans and rice tonight, though, because we didn’t have ham yesterday.)  After Suzanne met her client at the gate and escorted her to The Bus, I found the laundry room and got to work. These washboards are sure rough on your hands! I also fixed a couple of maintenance “issues” on The Bus. (It’s surprising how much you can fit into a day when you get up at 0430.)
What I haven’t had any luck accomplishing is finding Wi-Fi on base. It seems that they are either very cheap or extra security conscious here at Buckley AFB. This is a former National Guard base that was converted to an active Air Force Base to host Space Command activities. They do a lot of surveillance satellite work here, monitoring missile launches from potential enemy countries. In fact, during Suzanne’s reading, a base-wide siren went off, followed by, “This is a drill; all personnel seek shelter.” Just for clarification, this isn’t a weather-related exercise. Buckley’s mission of satellite surveillance means that in the event of war with China or Russia (or even North Korea or Iran if/when their missile programs reach maturity), this base would be a “first strike target” for the bad guys' missiles. Not a pleasant thought... Luckily, the air raid warning did not affect Suzanne's reading, which went very well.
One of the frustrations with 21st century travel is the necessity to find adequate Wi-Fi capability. We had to try three different McDonald's until we found a high capacity link. While waiting for the computer to connect and transfer large batches of data and photos, I perused the PlayPlace. There were two little girls about 7 years old who were shrieking at the top of their lungs. I have often speculated about the reasons for such behavior, but have reached no logical conclusions that make sense to me. I have to admit, I enjoy the PlayPlace as well, and I was trying to communicate on the Chatter Box that is attached to the red pillar here, but I was unable to communicate with the young ladies in question. Maybe their hearing was as impaired as mine...

  2. What an exciting day! Love seeing more photos of "behind the scenes" at the interview (by the way, the dress is PERFECT Suzanne!) Ha - ha Ty, the little girls are probably screaming because their parents told them to BEWARE of strange (as in not familiar to them) men!!
